Stream A: In-Canada graduates
Under the new pathway program, Hong Kong residents can apply for permanent residency immediately after graduating from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution. Please click for details on the PR pathways for HK residents. Generally, you only need to graduate from high school and be at least 17 years old. (Note: Some majors may have GPA for individual subjects.) If your English level is not that proficient and thus intend to skip any language tests such as IELTS or TOEFL, you can choose to take English preparatory courses first.
Canadian colleges can issue conditional offers to those whose English is not yet meeting the academic requirement. Upon finishing the required language studies, an official offer is provided in support of the application for study permit. When you finish your studies in Canada, you are eligible to apply for permanent residence through the Pathway program stream A. The Permanent residency is usually granted in 6 months, after which you can take advantage of the significantly reduced local tuition rate for any further education.
This is the most efficient and economical way to Canadian permanent residency.
After completing a two-year college program, you can apply for Canadian permanent residency through stream A of the Pathway program. Approximately half a year later, you will be granted status and you can use the tuition fees of local residents (about half of the tuition fees of international students) to continue to study in Canadian universities
